Beginners' Class in Talmud, given by Rabbi Mordechai Rose MA (Cantab), once every second Sunday.

Rabbi Rose is a Classics exhibitioner from Trinity College, who is fluent in French and Italian.
Rabbi Rose has obtained rabbinic ordination from the Mir Yeshiva in Jerusalem

Our Jewish kids club

Our club started in September 2007 and the children currently meet twice a week between 3:45pm and 5:15pm. We are the only provider of weekday childrens' Jewish education in Cambridge and the surrounding region. Our children learn to read and write Hebrew, engage with the Jewish calendar and holidays and learn traditional Jewish and Israeli songs and the weekly Torah portion in a fun way, in a Jewish environment.

Our club has grown rapidly within a matter of weeks and, spread across the week, we now have eight children attending. We would be delighted to have more children join us. We hope to expand so that the club will function on additional days during the week. Our guiding principle is that the Jewish education of our children does not take a holiday, and we therefore continue our classes during the civil school holidays.

We meet in the home of members, and the class is currently run by volunteer parents. We have an excellent stock of suitable books and materials.

We do not have a formal charging structure for the club at present. However, we do ask for a modest financial contribution from parents, payable in advance every eight weeks, to cover the cost of materials, and refreshments and as a contribution to the wider charitable activities of the community.

We are currently fundraising for an electric battery powered minibus that will be driven by a driver with an enhanced CRB check, and this will allow us to collect children from a number of schools across the city, whilst reducing congestion and pollution, and remaining exempt from any charges relating to the proposed congestion zone charge. Within a matter of weeks in spring 2008 we have so far raised almost £10,000 for this purpose.

Bar/Bat Mitzva Classes

Hama'ayan offers free one to one Bar and Bat Mitzva tuition to the children of members. Non-members can receive tuition for their children at the rate of £18 per lesson.

Our teachers are highly experienced in all aspects of Jewish learning, including over 40 years of cumulative experience of public reading.
