Jewish Burial

The exisiting cemetery is a section of the municipal cemetery on Newmarket Road. Very few, if any plots remain in the cemetery.

The City Council is not offering new plots in municipal cemeteries on terms consistent with Jewish Law. The Council will only bury people, whilst reserving the right to redevelop the land 50 years later.

For this reason, as a matter of urgency, the Board is seeking a freehold property in the county for use as a Jewish Cemetary. Until such time as this is achieved, the Board recommends that if plots at Newmarket Road are unavailable, burial is sought from the Federation Burial Society at their burial grounds in Rainham, Essex:
